Definition: Open Map

Let $(X,{\tau }_X)$ and $(Y,{\tau }_Y)$ be topological spaces.

A function $f:X\to Y$ is a closed map iff the image of every closed subset of $(X,{\tau }_X)$ is closed in $(Y,{\tau }_Y)$.
