Let and be two sets.
We say that:
- the cardinality of is equal to the cardinality of , written as , if there is a bijection from to ;
- the cardinality of is less than or equal to the cardinality of , written as , if there is an injection between and ;
- the cardinality of is less than the cardinality of , written as , if there is an injection but no bijection from to .
